We are forum for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one to suicide.  In this forum, individuals often remain anonymous, or perhaps share their first name.  It is a place where we can share the pain of our loss with those who understand the uniqueness of a loss of a loved one to suicide.

hands1Our hope is that those who come together with us can find some measure of comfort.  We don’t profess to have the answers, but we all share the same questions.  Suicide knows no boundaries…economic, social or otherwise.  The biggest thing we have in common is asking questions that will never have answers.

In our forum there is no stigma…there are no judgments.  We all bear a similar pain.  We listen.  We talk when we feel up to it.  We share our emotions.  We share our physical pain.  Our shared strength often helps our members get through some of the darkest times and assure them there is life after suicide.  Your life will never return to “normal”…but in time you will find a “new normal.”

We have found a support group sponsored by UPMC Altoona.  Their meeting format is such that allows for free flow of emotions, thoughts, or ideas.  Those that attend are known to cry together and laugh together.  In attendance are spouses, parents, adult children, significant others, close friends…anyone who has lost someone they love to suicide.  It is a place to get a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen.

These meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:00PM-8:30PM.
